Carrie Leiran, MS, RDN, LD, CEDRD


Carrie has over 30-plus years as a registered dietitian, most recently serving eighteen years in the outpatient setting for the Nutrition Centre at UnityPoint Health- Des Moines. Part of Carrie’s career included working for eight years in the former inpatient Eating Disorder Unit for UnityPoint Health - Des Moines . Today she is a sought after nutrition therapist in the field of eating disorders and sees 20-30 patients a week. Given issues of reimbursement and a passion for public policy, Carrie most recently served as the Co-Chair of the Reimbursement Issues for the Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

After graduating from Iowa State University, Carrie gained non-profit experience as an international cast member of “Up With People”. Her love for helping others has led to co-founding non-profit organizations Ruth Harbor and most recently the Eating Disorder Coalition of Iowa. As EDCI’s Co-Founder, she remains active assisting Iowan’s by speaking at and coordinating outreach events as well as connecting parents, patients and professionals across the state of Iowa.
