
Kathryn Wierda, Ph.D. LP

Kathryn is a licensed psychologist who is in private practice in West Des Moines. She works with adolescents and adults seeking treatment for a variety of mental health concerns, but is particularly interested in the treatment of eating disorders, identity related concerns/stress (e.g., sexual orientation, gender, race), and the impact of trauma. She is trained in EMDR and is currently working toward her EMDR certification.
Kathryn grew up in Michigan and received her BA in psychology from the University of Michigan and received her MA in school counseling and Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Western Michigan University. She moved to Iowa for a job at Iowa State University’s counseling center, where she served as the Eating Disorder Coordinator prior to beginning her work in private practice. Kathryn is passionate about education, training, and helping her clients increase their curiosity about themselves.
