Kim Pontius, LMHC, IAADC
Kim has been a licensed therapist since 2000 and co-founded a private practice in Ames where she currently works. She treats adults and teens who struggle with eating disorders as well as adults with mood and anxiety disorders. Her passion for this work comes out of her personal experience with anxiety and an eating disorder.
Kim developed an eating disorder after the birth of her 1st child and spent 20 years under it's influence. During this time she had three more children and was a full time parent. Kim did not have access to treatment which contributed to the long struggle though she finally found peace with food and herself. She returned to college to pursue a degree in counseling so she could help others recover.
Kim attended several EDCI conferences and events and gained knowledge which informed her work with clients. She became a board member in 2016 and wants other professionals to have opportunities to learn so they can help those who struggle.
Kim and her husband have a blended family with seven adult children and seven granddaughters. She loves running, gardening and visiting her family who are scattered across the country.
