Michelle is a licensed mental health counselor who works with individuals ranging from high school through adulthood. She currently serves as the Director of Student Counseling Services at Central College as well as maintains a private practice (Insights PLC) in Pella.

Counseling individuals who are challenged with anxiety, grief/loss, depression, body image/eating disorders, relationship issues, sexual abuse/assault, and self-injury, are her particular areas of interest. She is a trained EMDR clinician and is interested in how trauma affects the brain, but also how the mind has the ability to heal from psychological trauma.

Michelle's passion for treating individuals with eating disorders began over twenty years ago with high school and college-aged students. She focuses on body positivity in her work, and believes this, along with mindfulness, is vital in promoting healthy self-development. With a team approach, she likes to partner with clients, in an effort to assist them in becoming the healthiest version of themselves, emphasizing that healing and recovery are possible.

She enjoys reading, watching movies, being active, and spending time with her family and friends.
