Biography
I am a registered dietitian and author. I have a part-time private practice and also serve as the Executive Director for the Ellyn Satter Institute. To inform my work, I maintain specialty certifications in eating disorders, sports nutrition and diabetes. For the past 38 years I have been helping people live healthier and happier lives by breaking free of rigid feeding and dieting practices and developing a trusting relationship with food and their bodies. I have seen first-hand the end result of the distortions caused by poor feeding and eating practices, restriction, excessive exercise and nutrition misinformation. My treatment philosophy is weight and food neutral, incorporating the Satter feeding and eating models into the foundation of my counseling. For over 20 years I worked with young adults and student athletes striving to overcome conditions including REDs (relative energy deficiency for sport), eating disorders, food allergies and gut issues. I also have extensive experience in diabetes care. As we are bombarded daily to slim down, eat less, and eat right, I am passionate about helping individuals and families bring joy back to eating. Aside from professional interests, I love to hike in beautiful northeast Iowa, Minnesota lake time, traveling, cooking, gardening, photography, and spending time with my fun-loving, adventurous family, including three adult children and an amazingly supportive spouse.

Biography
I got my MSSW from The University of Tennessee in 2006 and have been a therapist since. I spent the first four years of post graduate school practice in a dual diagnosis partial hospitalization setting, which is where I began my professional experience with eating disorders. After returning to Iowa, I worked briefly in community mental health and then at LifeWorks for 12 years. Throughout this time, I gradually saw an increase in clients on my caseload with eating disorders, both because I became more interested in working with this population and also because others (both in the agency and community) began referring clients to me. I transitioned to private practice in 2023 and carry what I consider a mixed caseload (individuals and couples ranging from teenagers to geriatric clients) of a variety of mental health and eating disorder diagnoses.

Biography
Erica Bobst is a licensed mental health counselor and registered nurse with over 20 years of experience supporting clients and fellow clinicians across the state of Iowa. Known for her deep commitment to the treatment of disordered eating, she is considered one of the few true specialists in our state. Erica is skilled in the treatment of all clinical and subclinical eating disorders, as well as depression and anxiety. Her approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and emphasizes growth and recovery within the nuanced work of treating disordered eating. She has additional training in Family Based Treatment (FBT), is growing her skill set in Radically Open-Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT) and had a 6-month intensive via the Academy for Eating Disorders in Integrative Cognitive Affective Therapy (ICAT). Rest assured, if she isn't truly skilled in a diagnosis or treatment modality, she will be transparent about this and refer you to a network of providers with whom she has built relationships. Her early ballet training shaped a lifelong philosophy that values learning through process and perseverance—a mindset she brings into both her clinical work, supervision, and teaching. Erica has held clinical and academic roles at the University of Iowa, including serving as both a nurse and later a nurse clinician specialist in the Department of Psychiatry and as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Rehabilitation and Counselor Education. She is an approved supervisor in the state of Iowa, offering both individual and group supervision to graduate-level counseling students, temporary licensed clinicians seeking full licensure (tLMHC and LMSW), and psychiatric resident physicians. Erica has dedicated her career to growing confident, skilled providers through education, supervision, and direct clinical care. In addition to clinical supervision, Erica provides consultation and training opportunities for providers seeking deeper engagement in eating disorder treatment. She has a great passion to help to bridge academic learning with practical application in outpatient mental health settings. She is a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders, the Iowa Mental Health Counselors Association, the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, and is actively involved with the Eating Disorder Coalition of Iowa, having served as a former board member. Outside of work, Erica brings the same passion for connection and community to her personal life. A former ballet dancer, she now enjoys lake days in the summer, cheering her favorite team at fall tailgates, and spending time with her growing family—including her new role as a proud grandma. She and her husband continue to farm his family’s land outside of town, finding joy in the balance of rural life and meaningful work. After many years in group practice, Erica is excited to lead her own practice and continue supporting both clients and clinicians in new ways.

Lynne Vestal is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor with 30 years of specialized experience helping individuals recover from eating disorders. She is deeply committed to compassionate, evidence-based care that supports lasting recovery. Lynne’s professional focus on eating disorders began at the University of Iowa, where she worked with families of adolescents with eating disorders and engaged in research throughout her undergraduate and graduate training. This work culminated in her graduate thesis examining cognitive-behavioral conceptualizations of bulimia, laying the foundation for her lifelong dedication to this field. Throughout her career, Lynne has worked across all levels of eating disorder care, including the University of Iowa Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic, where she worked with children and parents utilizing Family Based Treatment (FBT) and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT); the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where she served as a senior behavioral health clinician in both the children’s inpatient unit and the partial hospitalization program; and Mercy Hospital in Des Moines where she worked as a primary therapist in both the inpatient hospital and the outpatient eating disorder clinic. For the past 23 years, Lynne has maintained a private practice, providing therapy to clients throughout the state of Iowa. She believes recovery is strongest when care is collaborative and works closely with physicians, dietitians, and psychiatrists to ensure comprehensive, coordinated treatment.
